Overview

This Privacy Policy describes how the SelfLabs Managed Discounts app (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) collects, uses, and protects information when you install and use our Shopify application.

Information We Collect

Data We Access from Shopify

We access the following Shopify data through the Admin API:

Discounts: To create and manage discount codes
Customers: To search for customers when linking codes (read-only)
Orders: To track when discount codes are used (via webhooks)

Data We Do NOT Collect

Payment information
Customer names or addresses
Product or inventory data
Any data beyond what's listed above

How We Use Information

We use the collected information solely for:

Discount Usage Tracking: Recording when a discount code is used
Monthly Limit Enforcement: Determining if a code was already used this billing period
Customer Linking: Associating codes with specific customers (when configured)

We do not use customer data for marketing, advertising, sale to third parties, profiling, or any purpose other than discount management.

Data Storage & Security

Where Data is Stored

Data is stored in a database managed by the app
The database is hosted on encrypted cloud infrastructure
All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption

Access limited to authorized personnel only
Regular security reviews
Incident response procedures in place

Data Retention

Discount Codes	Until deleted by merchant or app uninstalled
Customer Links	Until unlinked or code deleted

After the retention period, data is automatically deleted.

Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or rent customer data to third parties.

Data may be disclosed only to comply with legal obligations, to protect our rights or safety, or with your explicit consent.

Your Rights

For Merchants

You can view all data stored by the app, export your data, delete data by removing codes or uninstalling the app, and contact us with questions about your data.

For Customers

If you're a customer whose email was used with a discount code, your store's privacy policy applies. Contact the store directly for data requests.

Data on App Uninstall

When the app is uninstalled:

Your session is immediately cleared for security
All app data (discount codes, usage records, customer records) is automatically deleted 48 hours after uninstall
This 48-hour delay allows you to reinstall the app and retain your data if uninstalled by mistake
After the 48-hour period, data cannot be recovered

Children's Privacy

We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such data, contact us immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy periodically. Changes will be posted with an updated “Last Updated” date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
